ServicesACA Marketplace Plans
ACA Marketplace Plans in Pinellas Park
With the tax credit applied, a lot of people find exchange coverage is more affordable than they feared. The hard part is sorting through dozens of plans that look alike. We look at your income, your doctors and your budget, then walk you through the few that fit, in plain words.

How Marketplace plans work and who they suit
ACA Marketplace plans are sold on the federal exchange Florida relies on. All of them include the same core benefits: doctor visits, hospital care, maternity care, mental health care and prescriptions. Your past health cannot be used to turn you down or charge you more. Where plans truly differ is the monthly premium, the deductible, the network and how you share costs once you use care.
They often work well for people who are self-employed, out of work for now, retiring before Medicare starts, working part time or at a job with no health benefits. The main appeal is the premium tax credit, which cuts your monthly bill based on expected income and family size. A lot of our clients call after trying the exchange website alone and getting stuck deciding which plan is actually the better buy.
Our team is small, so whoever works out your numbers also helps you enroll and answers when you call with a question in March. We never bill you for any of it. The carrier behind the plan you choose is who pays us.
What we do when you shop Marketplace plans
- Your tax credit, worked out first
- We start by estimating the tax credit you may get, using your expected income and family size. Every other number depends on it, so we settle it before looking at plans.
- One view of every option
- Plans from several carriers sit together, showing premium, deductible, out-of-pocket maximum and copays. The tradeoffs are right in front of you.
- Your doctors and prescriptions looked up
- For each plan on your list, we confirm whether your doctors and medications are covered. A low price means little if the plan leaves out your doctor.
- Plain talk about silver plans
- At certain incomes, silver plans carry extra cost-sharing help that brings the deductible down. We let you know when you qualify and when bronze or gold suits you better.
- We enroll alongside you
- We go through the application with you on a phone call, over video or at our office, and once your first premium is paid, we make sure the plan is active.
- Support all year
- When your income changes, you move or a claim seems wrong, you reach the same person who set up your plan.
When a Marketplace plan deserves a closer look
Your employer coverage ended
When a work plan stops, a special enrollment window opens for you. In most cases you have 60 days after the old coverage ends to choose something new. Miss it, and you could be waiting until the next open enrollment.
Your income went up or down
Tax credits follow your income. A change in pay can mean you are owed more help, or that you should adjust now so you do not owe money back at tax time.
Your family changed
Marriage, a new baby, an adoption or a divorce all count as qualifying events. Each one can change what plan works best and what you pay. For a closer look at covering everyone, see our family health insurance page.
Your renewal notice looks off
Plans change their networks, deductibles and premiums every year. Letting a plan roll over without checking can quietly cost you more for less.
You are paying full price on your own
If you buy a policy outside the exchange, it is worth checking whether a Marketplace plan with a tax credit would cost less for similar benefits.
How it works, from first call to coverage
- 1
A free consultation
You call, and we talk about who needs coverage, your rough income for the year, your doctors and what worries you most about cost. There is no fee for the consultation.
- 2
Your options, side by side
We pull the plans that fit and go over them with you line by line. We explain what you would pay in a quiet year and in a year with a hospital stay, so the deductible is not a surprise later.
- 3
Enrollment
Once you choose, we complete the application with you and double-check income and family details, since those drive your tax credit. Then we confirm your start date.
- 4
Follow-up when you need it
Your ID cards, first bill, income updates and next year's renewal all come back to the same small team. You do not start over with a stranger each time.

What moves the cost of a Marketplace plan
There is no single price for Marketplace coverage. Your monthly premium and what you pay when you use care depend on a handful of things we review with you before you choose. Our help adds nothing to what you pay for the plan.
- Income and family size
- These set your premium tax credit. The more accurately you estimate your income for the coming year, the less likely you are to owe money back when you file taxes.
- Bronze, silver, gold or platinum
- Think of the tiers as a seesaw. A bronze plan keeps the monthly bill low but leaves you paying more before coverage kicks in, while gold and platinum flip that around. Silver lands in the middle and, at some incomes, unlocks extra savings on your deductible.
- Your age and whether you smoke
- Base rates climb as you get older, and carriers may add a surcharge for tobacco users. For many people in their 50s and early 60s, the tax credit absorbs a good share of that higher rate.
- Network type
- HMO-style plans with tighter networks usually cost less than plans that let you see out-of-network doctors. Which carriers serve your part of Pinellas County also matters.
Marketplace plan questions
Something not covered here? (727) 788-4287
What is the deadline to enroll in a Marketplace plan?
The main window is open enrollment, which usually opens November 1 and closes in mid-January. Other times of year require a qualifying life event, like losing coverage, moving, marrying or having a child. Those windows typically run 60 days, so calling right after the change gives you the most time.
Does enrolling through you cost more than doing it myself?
No. The premium is identical whether you sign up on your own or with us. The consultation is free, and the carrier you pick is who pays us.
What if my income changes during the year?
Let us know and we will help you update your application. If your pay goes up and you leave it unreported, you may have to repay part of your tax credit at tax time. If your pay drops, you may qualify for more help right away.
Will my doctor be covered on a new plan?
That varies by plan, and networks differ more than most people think, even between plans from the same carrier. We look up every one of your doctors in each plan you are weighing, so you find out on our call and not at the front desk.
Do Marketplace plans include dental and vision?
Children's dental and vision are core benefits, but adult coverage is usually left out. Many clients add a separate plan, and our dental insurance and vision insurance pages explain those options.
