ServicesIndividual Health Insurance

Individual Health Insurance in Pinellas Park

If you buy your own coverage, the choice comes down to your doctors, your medications and how much risk you can carry. We walk through real plan options with you, one person handling your file from the first call to your first claim question.

Coverage built around one person

Individual health insurance covers just you, and you pick it and pay for it directly instead of getting it from work. It suits people who are self-employed, between jobs or working part-time, along with early retirees and young adults aging off a parent's plan at 26.

The hard part is not finding a plan. It is knowing which of the dozens on offer actually fits. Two plans with similar premiums can treat your doctor, your medications and a surprise hospital bill very differently. We read the fine print with you, show you the tradeoffs in plain language, and let you decide.

We are a small team, so the advisor who answers your first call is the one who helps you enroll and the one you reach later when a bill looks wrong. No call center, no starting over.

What we do for you

A look at your real needs
We ask about the doctors you want to keep, the medications you take, and how often you expect to use care. That short conversation shapes every option we show you.
Plans compared on one page
We gather plans from multiple carriers and set the key numbers next to each other: the monthly premium, the deductible you meet before the plan starts paying, the yearly out-of-pocket maximum, and what a routine office visit costs. Seeing those four figures together makes the choice far clearer.
Network and drug checks
Before you commit, we confirm your doctors are in network and your medications are on the plan's drug list, along with the tier each one falls in.
Subsidy and marketplace review
Many people buying their own coverage qualify for help with the premium. We check whether an ACA marketplace plan makes more sense for you, and explain how your expected income affects the numbers.
Help with enrollment
We stay on the line or on video while the application is completed, so names, dates and income details are entered correctly the first time.
Questions after you sign up
Once your plan starts, you still have the same person to call about ID cards, a confusing bill, or whether to change plans at renewal.

When it is time to look at your own plan

  • Your work coverage is ending

Quitting, getting laid off or switching to freelance work typically means your employer plan stops. Losing that coverage gives you a special enrollment window, and it starts counting from the day the old plan ends.

  • You are turning 26

Coverage on a parent's plan generally ends around your 26th birthday. Planning a month or two ahead avoids a gap.

  • Your premium jumped at renewal

A higher renewal notice is a good moment to compare. A different plan or carrier may cover the same doctors for less.

  • Your doctor left the network

Networks change from year to year. If a doctor you rely on dropped out, we can find plans where they are still in network.

  • You are paying for coverage you rarely use

Someone healthy who sees a doctor once a year may be overpaying. A different deductible level can shift money back into your pocket without leaving you exposed.

What sets the price of your plan

You pay nothing for our consultation, because our pay comes from the carrier you choose. What the plan itself costs depends on a short list of things, and we show you how each one moves the number.

Your age

Age changes an individual premium more than almost anything else. The same plan can cost far more at 60 than at 32, and we show you exactly where your price falls.

Metal level and deductible

Marketplace plans come in bronze, silver, gold and platinum, and each level shares costs with you in its own way. Lower monthly bills usually mean a higher deductible and bigger charges per visit.

Expected income and tax credits

Your estimated earnings for the year decide whether a marketplace plan includes a premium tax credit and how large it is. For many people, this outweighs everything else.

Tobacco and your county

Carriers can charge tobacco users more, and rates vary by county. Someone elsewhere in Florida may be offered different plans than you are in Pinellas County.

Network: HMO or PPO

Narrow HMO networks tend to cost less than PPO plans that pay for doctors outside the network. We help you weigh that savings against the doctors you want to keep seeing.

How working with us goes

  1. 1

    A first conversation

We start with a relaxed phone call about your age, where you live, what you expect to earn this year, and the doctors and medications you count on. Most first calls are short, and you do not need any paperwork in front of you.

  2. 2

    Reviewing your options together

Next we bring back plans from several carriers and talk through how they differ, by phone, video or at our office. We flag the catches, like a low premium sitting on top of a deductible you could not comfortably pay.

  3. 3

    You choose, we enroll

There is no pressure to decide on the spot. When you are ready, we complete the application together and confirm your start date.

  4. 4

    Same advisor afterward

Your ID cards, first bills and next open enrollment all go through the person you already know. We check in before renewal so you are not caught off guard by changes.

Questions people ask about buying a plan on their own

What is the enrollment period for an individual plan?

Most people enroll during open enrollment, which begins in the fall and continues into winter. Outside that window, you need a qualifying event like losing other coverage, moving or marrying. Let us know what happened and we will tell you right away whether you can sign up now.

Can a pre-existing condition keep me from getting a plan?

No. Plans that follow ACA rules cannot deny you or raise your price because of a condition you already have. That is a big reason we generally point people to those plans instead of short-term coverage.

Is your help truly free?

Yes. The consultation has no fee, and the carrier you choose pays us instead of you. You pay the same premium whether you sign up through us or on your own.

Can I add a spouse or children down the road?

Getting married or having a baby starts a special enrollment period, and we can switch you to a plan that includes everyone. Our family health insurance page has more details.

Is it worth adding dental or vision?

Routine dental and eye care are usually not part of adult health plans. If you want coverage for cleanings or glasses, we can quote a separate dental insurance or vision insurance plan on the same call.

Do I need to visit your office?

No. Plenty of clients in Largo, Seminole and St. Petersburg take care of everything over the phone or on video. If you would rather meet face to face, our office is open to you.
